Emily’s Diary
On June 16, 1879, the Luman Sergeant family left their home in Taopi, Minnesota, for a new life in Nebraska. Luman’s daughter, Emily (age 16 at the time), kept a diary of their journey. Her account of their experiences on the trip was found among the property left in California by the Luman Sergeant descendants.
